Recently, I watched the crime thriller film, The Little Things, with my husband. It starred my fav, Denzel Washington, along with Jared Leto and Rami Malek. I remember the trailer and Denzel’s voice could be heard saying, “It’s the little things that get you caught.” I found myself thinking about all the times that people use “little things”. The most prominent that came to mind was of course the old adage of “it’s the little things that count” when dealing with relationships. I always see posts of people blushing at their significant other buying their favorite snack or doing a hated chore, and how these small things mean so much. I totally agree because there is nothing that makes me smile more than my husband coming in from work at night and bringing me a bottle of Coke Zero. I literally grin like a bobcat! LOL!
When it comes to my style “the little things” always take front and center! It’s something I’ve been noticed for and honestly, the secret to my money saving looks. If you follow me on IG (which you should be! LOL!) you will notice my flat lays. I love to outline my fav products or look components on my feed. While these are not my most popular posts, the followers who get it, GET IT!
Accessories just change things and this is a fact! Below, I took a 12.00 dress and created a bomb look by…..yeah, you guessed it! THE LITTLE THINGS! Earrings, hat, bag, shoes, all items I’d worn before, multiple times! One of my most popular blog posts, I took one dress and created 3 looks by just swapping around the little things.
More times than not, when I approach my closet, I head to the shelves first to pick a bag I’d like to carry for the day and a pair of earrings, then frame my outfit around it. Weird, huh?! You should try it! In fashion, as in life, it’s the little things that count! You can make a big style impact by upping your accessory game and these items are a small price point, that can be used over and over, unlike some ready to wear pieces. Head over to my Instagram on the bottom of this site, if you haven’t and take a look at how I incorporate the little things into my looks and let me know in the comments if you have a signature simple item that makes it’s way into your style.
I love this post, I would love some new Little Things. HINT
