Fashion Choices in a Time of Crisis

While the country is still in a state of crisis dealing with the Covid 19 virus, spirits are low for some. I’ve always felt that you look as good as you feel and being held up at home can definitely make you feel like, what’s the point. I literally spent 2 consecutive days in pajamas! While, it was comfy, it didn’t help my solemn mood or calm by worrisome spirit.

As I adjust to the new normal of being home, social distancing and quarantining, I’ve evaluated my clothing and hair choices. I noted in my previous blog post that I’m making choices to keep it cute as one of my survival shut in tactics and it has definitely brightened my days.

I’ve dug up my Spring comfortable dresses, leisure matching sets, jogging sets, comfy jeans with stretch, cute tees and work out clothes! I’m saving PJs for night time and making it a point to get out of them by 10:00 am or it’s down hill from there. Also, I’ve pulled all my sneakers and tennis shoes. I’m no sneaker head but I have a few and now is the time to get some wear out of them.

Daily working from home, I’ve chosen to get up and put on a coordinated set or a workout fit if I’m planning a neighborhood walk. A cute ponytail, high bun or head wrap on freshly washed hair completes the look with brows, mascara and lip balm.

Now, for the highlight of the week, my grocery and supply run day, I’m making use of the cute Spring pieces I was saving to wear out with my crew for brunch or happy hour drinks. I’ve made the choice to shop once a week as to not overly hoard items that we may not use. Also, we must all be cognizant of people who are working and aren’t able to shop early, we want there to be essential items left for them too. A cute flirty dress in a bold print and/or color will definitely lighten your mood. I’m not taking it too far because after all, grocery shopping is no big deal (these days it really is though) so I dress down by adding my favorite white simple sneakers.

In days like this, any small thing can make you smile, if it’s something you love. I’m quick these days to wear my most gaudy pair of earrings just around the house, much to the delight of my one year old, who tries to pull them off. I hope you’re finding inspiration during these hard times to still express yourself through your clothes, hair, or makeup. Don’t save that outfit, wear it for a car ride with your significant other. Stay safe and be responsible, but don’t forget who you are and don’t forget to make yourself happy!

I seen a meme recently that read, “what am I wearing to the living room today?” It was funny and 100% accurate! I’ve been WFH before the pandemic so I’m used to the living room being my backdrop for the day. Since the mandatory quarantine…I have put more effort into getting dressed and getting out of my PJs. It’s not everyday but I make it a point to change at least 3 days out of the work week.

LOL! That is true for real! I had to seriously make it a point to ditch the daytime pajamas because it was killing my mood. It’s funny how the smallest things can make an impact on your day and outlook.🖤

I’ve been getting dressed to sit in my home office and work. I don’t do my makeup, and have been letting my skin catch some much needed air, but I spritz perfume and try different hair ideas. When the work day is over, I put on lounge wear and pjs. It has really helped me separate the work day from the personal day. Plus, I’m learning to hop online and get reacquainted with social media and your blog post, during the work day, so that I have brain breaks.

That’s such a good point! Separate the work from personal! I’m sure that helps you stay productive on the work side of things, which can be hard at home. Glad I can help with the down time! 🤗
