Act Like You Know Me

Facebook and Instagram were shut down for the day, last week. It was hilarious to see all the memes, statuses and jokes pop up after both were back operational. It got me to thinking about my blog and what I want for the future. My blog has always been a place where I express my shopping tips and commentary on how style impacts your lifestyle. My future hopes are to expand the information that is offered here and more categories to help my readers get to know me. I pray that everyone reading it will share it with someone they think would enjoy it, subscribe via email for alerts and repost it on your socials. So many influencers utilize social media as a way to connect but we do not own these platforms. I feel fortunate enough to have my own site to operate and my wish is that it will become a place to frequent on updates from me in real time. I put so much time and energy into Instagram posts and stories, sometimes neglecting the blog, which is actually my own intellectual property. How crazy is that?! Needless to say, I have to begin to prioritize this avenue more and that’s what I plan to do moving forward this last quarter of the year.

Fall is here, the air is crisp, festivals, fairs, spending absurd amounts of money in decor, prepping for the holidays…ummm yeah…FALL is definitely here. I love the layering of Fall fashion and how the temps fluctuate from cool in the mornings to warm by lunch time. I’m usually like an onion, stripping away as the temps rise. Here recently, I’ve been in cardigans, jackets, jeans, joggers and shorts.

High temps mean we can take advantage of showing legs a little longer and sweat shorts have been my favs in September and October. Roomy, pockets and great medium length in the shorts compliment an oversized denim jacket. I work in a casual environment and can wear jeans but I love elevating them with a fitted tank, oversized belted cardigan and heels.

While, it’s not time for outerwear yet in the South, layering is a way to enjoy all the 4 seasons we experience in 24 hours! LOL!

While, some things we can’t control….like the weather, there are so many things we can control, like our intellectual property! If you are doing something in business or for pleasure, look for ways to go out on your own, eliminate the middle man, own as much of your ideas as you can! Solicit help of your family, friends and supporters to get the word out about whatever you’re doing. We all get busy and sometimes need a quick refresh! Remind someone of what your dream is and ask for help. Personally, you can help me by making sure you’re registered on the right side of this post by email to get alerts when I drop content. Following me on social media is so appreciated but I can’t control what I don’t own and so many creators are slipping the cracks with that. I’m saying it now and I’ll say it again…tell a friend to tell a friend about my blog….I ain’t saying you owe me, but act like you know me.

“You can’t control what you don’t own” is such a word because it really can be applied to all areas of life, both personally and professionally!

Yes!! It’s so easy to get into the mode of letting someone else or something to take a huge chunk of what you’re doing! I’m an advocate for having control when you can.

I know you boo! The shutdown caused chaos but I feel like we still didn’t learn from it. I follow a lot of bloggers and they rarely plug their website! It’s all about the gram…until the gram is gone! I look forward to seeing what you do with your platform in the upcoming months. Wishing you many blessings and growth friend.

Thanks so much, girl! And yes! You know me very well! Social media is cool but I really hope all creatives take on more ownership of their work!
