The quarantine clean up bug finally hit me last week! After two months of basically making failed attempts at clearing out my closets and cabinets, I made some progress. While doing so, I found some oldies but goodies, but this has been my issue in the past….I start to clear out, but keep sooo many items, there isn’t a big impact. Not this time! I’m getting it done!
I decided before making hasty decisions on what items I’m keeping and letting go, I’d try a few out….thus, the classic, basic items in this post. My favorite mom jeans from Fashion Nova, obsessed with the stretch. I can wear these when I’m in between sizes, def keeping ……a red cardigan, easy for pairing weekends and work, keep…… a pop of color pump, gotta go, my feet were killing me in these! The jewel of the ensemble was this vintage Coach bag. I wore this thing out in 2007 and when I paired it with these pieces, I felt amazing.
The crazy part about my clean up was that the majority of pieces I gravitated to keep, were things I purchased years ago! This really made me think about how trendy items don’t stand the test of time and how much I really get out of fast fashion, that doesn’t stand up well in the wash or from storage, season to season, year to year. I have a garbage bag full of items two years or less old that I will be donating or selling on my Poshmark.
Now, is this outfit the most exciting thing I wear? NO! Am I totally giving mommy vibes? YES! (I am a mom, though so give some slack! LOL!) But, I look put together, comfortable, and I can literally go so many places in this look.
Always keep in mind, you can’t go wrong with classics and basics. Solids are just as important as patterns, the new is shiny but the old has that vintage nostalgic flair!
Speaking of new and old! I’m hoping you’re loving my new blog site. Look for many new upgrades, shop my looks and search for past posts! Let me know what you think in the comments.
LOVE THE NEW LOOK! You’re right about the classic pieces. They follow you through each phase of your life. Old Navy and the Gap are two places that I hold dear to my fashion heart. I have so many pieces from them that has stood the test of the time. Like you said…basic…yes but if you style them right…they can go from work, to dinner, to a weekend outing!
