Tips for Tipping Away…During an Emotional Global Pandemic of Mass Proportions LOL!

OK….I had some fun with the title! I found it hilarious and hope you did too! At any rate, this past weekend me and my husband celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary by taking a romantic weekend trip……KID FREE!!!! (Thanks Mom!) The actual day, was August 27, so it was perfect timing. We were both really burned out with work and home and desperately in need of some relaxation and time together, just us. We hadn’t been away from our son for more than 24 hours since he was born and he is 21 months! I began planning what we could possibly do over a month ago. I figured I better nail down a plan, due to all the chaos going on in the world. I said to myself, I should share my tips and thought process, because so many people are wanting and needing to get out. Now, the tips in my post will be explained from my point of view, please feel free to utilize them as you see fit to match your lifestyle, wishes and desires. Also, don’t let anyone make you ashamed for your choices regarding what you want to do. OK, lets go!

  1. Decide on distance and mode of transportation that make you the most comfortable! Figure out rather you are comfortable using modes of transportation with the public, ex. planes, trains, buses. Make up in your mind, how you will get to wherever you are going and if not public, how far are you willing to drive. Doing this first will narrow your search and make it much easier to pick a destination. We decided we were not comfortable enough yet for public transportation and also that we weren’t game to drive over 5 hours due to wanting to have somewhat easy proximity if we needed to get home to our son.
  2. Look in your own backyard! Now, not literally, unless you’re down to pitch a tent for fun! LOL! But look in your own state, or surrounding area for quick inexpensive fun. “Staycations” are super popular, where you rediscover your own city. With Covid 19 still being a reality in the U.S. staying in a local area where you have already been out and in routine, could possibly reduce exposure. As I mentioned before, we definitely did not want to go far, so I looked for destinations close to home….there popped Hot Springs, AR! Deemed as America’s first resort town, this destination was only 55 minutes from our home!
  3. Where do you want to sleep? Before the pandemic this would have been a no brainer for me! Best hotels with bar, pools, restaurants and locations in the heart of the action!!! But I’m not ready…..I have never stayed via Airbnb but I checked them out in the area. I wanted somewhere private, where we could rest easy and make meals if we didn’t want to go out….and that’s when I stumbled on this gem…. Hot Springs Treehouses! Click the link to take a look at their website. Small treehouse cabins with all the modern amenities and more! Stainless steel kitchen area where we could cook if needed, equipped with dishes and cookware….a large modern bathroom with glass door shower…… hot tub on the outdoor patio with porch swing and table for 2…… not to mention small touches like the sweetest handwritten note from our hosts, games, DVDs (no cable due to the mountains), homemade banana bread and so many other things it would take me all day to list. This is not sponsored, your girl spent her own coin and we will definitely be back! The location was close to the down town attractions but you felt miles away!
  4. Make a clear itinerary that is fun but within your comfort-ability. We talked about what we wanted to do while we were away and it wasn’t much! SLEEP…more SLEEP. LOL! No, just kidding, but we were good with being with each other in some quiet, catch up on some movies, hot tub time, dinner out and walks along the tourist area. I looked up the rules and guidelines for restaurants we wanted to try before we left and made sure we were prepared and in compliance with all CDC guidelines.
  5. Take all needed supplies, don’t assume you can buy the necessities where you’re going! Soooo many random things are out of stock these days. You do not want to get caught out of town without your MUST haves! Masks, sanitizer, wipes should be packed first, right after your clean underwear! LOL! It’s that important! I had our masks, clorox wipes, wets ones and sanitizer in a small bag in the car, so we didn’t forget them at any of our stops.

The most important tip is…. HAVE FUN!!!! Me and my husband had a blast and it was definitely one our of most memorable trips. It also helped me shed any fear of traveling and being out in a safe manner. Be sure to message me on Instagram if you have any questions about this great little spot! I posted some things on my Instagram stories over the weekend, so make sure you’re following! Link on the homepage! Have you traveled during the pandemic? Let me know in the comments!

Delvin, you are my hearts joy. I’ve loved you forever and I always will. Looking forward to many more anniversaries.

This was so cute and cozy! You wouldn’t think to go to a cabin during the summer…what a great idea! We haven’t traveled since the pandemic which has been a bummer. Having an option like this is on the scale of being safer than a hotel or resort environment. I’m in Texas so Hot Springs won’t see us anytime soon but I will look out for some cabins here in Texas Hill Country. Thank you for the idea!!!!

It was so nice! Def check your area! Thats exactly why I included tip #2, to not overlook what’s right in proximity to your home. So often we feel like we have to go far for a good time and thats just not the case.
