Don’t Say Bye, Say See You Later

Anytime I would leave my grandmother’s house I’d say, “Bye, granny!” She’d correct me with, “Don’t say goodbye, say see you later!” I think of that often and try to adhere to it. Goodbye seems so permanent. The end of a good time, experience, relationship, era. The new year started off with promise but quickly took a downward spiral when my long time pet, Sport took ill.

Now granted he’d definitely gotten slower the last year but in my mind, that was to be expected given his age. I adopted him from the Humane Society in 2014 when he was around 4. He was already house trained and just a perfect fit for our family. I immediately took to him and so did my husband. At that time we only had my stepdaughter on visits and the house was fiercely quiet. Sport brought so much fun, companionship and laughter. So when a weekend nose bleed turned out to be throat Cancer, I was crushed. Sport’s vet shampooed him, gave him a steroid shot and let us know the best thing to do would be to let him go. But first we could take him home for a few days to say goodbye. Thankfully, we ended up getting ice and bad weather, so both my husband, son and I were home. We spent 3 days in our normal and it was just the goodbye we needed. Friday, February 3, 2023 at 10:30 am we said farewell to our sweet boy.

My life is forever changed because Sport was in it. I had very dark nights that he saw me through. Thank you, Sport for being a selfless companion. I will miss you forever. It’s not goodbye, see you later.

After such an event, I’m changed forever. Change is inevitable, so when you see me in bright pastels in the middle of winter and not my usual neutrals…… know that I am changing, evolving and moving fearlessly into the future.

For my birthday, I treated myself with several items! Most of them in color! I paired this cute sweatshirt dress with my Balenciaga bag, and this amazing oversized coat from Boohoo (find the link on the home page)! I couldn’t help but smile because literally, who am I?!? This is so far out of my comfort zone but I was pleasantly surprised at how warm, cozy and light I felt. What is something you want to wear, try or do this year outside of your norm? Trying to be more discipline. Embracing my sixties being anxious for nothing.

LOVE THAT COLOR ON YOU! We need that coat pic on the timeline ma’am 💚 I’m working on finding my personal style especially since I’m 37 and approaching 40. I feel like it’s time to step it up and let the people know who I am and what I’ve come to do.
