Shut In Survival!

I don’t define myself as an introvert or extrovert. I enjoy the quiet of my home, sitting on my sofa, while my husband plays video games in the back and my son is napping. I also love being at restaurants with my girls, standing around swapping stories with the other moms in the morning at daycare drop off and chatting with strangers in the check out line at the grocer.

Honestly, I’m the chick who will go anywhere I’ve been invited! I don’t have to know another soul there. I’ve met so many good friends this way. This last week has been a challenge. While working from home is not something new to me, just the thought of restrictions in place is daunting… I’m used to moving around! Needless to say this difficulty is something many of us have in common, however making the decision to practice social distance and stay safe is the right thing to do. Here are some tips I’ve picked up! ( let the fun commence!)

Disclaimer: While I understand this is a very serious jsituation, I’m making an attempt at humor. This is my experience and poking fun at some of my personal quirks!

  1. Inventory Your Spot: Figure out how much food, alcoholic beverages and games you have in place for the long evenings and nights! Even if you don’t regularly go out socially, you’ll be missing it anyway. You will be reminiscing on every party and happy hour you’ve ever attended.
  2. Dig Up An Old Hobby or Skill: Is there something you used to do that has fallen by the wayside? Now is the time to pick it up! I won 3rd place in the 4H Bread Making Competition in 1999….now is a great time to dabble in that considering the empty grocery shelves.
  3. Family Connections: Use the extra time that your entire family is home to reconnect and get better acquainted with your loved ones and what their up to currently. My husband just recently figured out that I’ve been rotating two different color hair units instead of one.
  4. Spring Clean: Tackle those tasks you put off all winter, for example cleaning your closet! You’re going to need the extra room for all the online shopping you’re doing during the quarantine period! Spray those packages before you bring them in the house!
  5. Get Cute: While I don’t advocate for sitting at home with a full beat, you will feel as good as you look. Clean face, groom those brows, favorite lip balm and a cute lounge set will do. I’ve been making use of the matching pajama sets I’ve gotten for holidays and I swap my bonnet for a cute head wrap.

These are a few of the random thoughts that have popped into my head over the quarantine days. Hope you got a kick out of them! I pray you are all being safe and in good spirits. What are you and your families doing to pass the time at home? Let me know in the comments.

Love the suggestions! With a 9 yr old at home along with a 2 yr old….we’ve heard “I’M BORED” over a million times…including my husband lol. The typical family home activities we save for the weekend…we’ve incorporated them during the week to kind of break up the boredom.
