I am 40! And Guess What? I’m Excited!

January 3, 2024 I turned 40 years old! There was a small kink in the plan though because I’d gotten ill right after Christmas! In my mom’s voice, “I’m an age where I need a shawl and hat on when I go outside. And not an off the shoulder dress with cleavage out!” LOL! I spent December at parties and galas….my son DJ turned 5 with an epic party…December was a time! So when New Year arrived, I was ok with being quiet at home in bed, minus being sick. I felt that resting was forced on me…2023 was quite busy. I needed sleep and the freedom to do absolutely nothing.

Having a birthday at the beginning of the year is always such an eye opening experience! You start the new year off with a new age….resolutions, planning and all the things that make everyone simultaneously excited. No resolutions this year but GOALS! I knocked out so many in 2023 and even added tasks along the way that propelled my professional career and personal relationships.

While many things are wrong with modern society these days, one is not….age and limits placed on them. The 40 year old of today is not the one of yesteryear. So many people are just getting started…families, careers, hobbies! We’re later to the game and that’s OK. As my birthday approached I found myself empowered by the thoughts of how much more I can accomplish, the wisdom I’ve acquired! My fav phrase these days is, “Baby, I’m 40 years old!” LOL! It’s something about it that basically leans into…I know what I’m talking about.

A turn up with my friends Saturday night where I had to tap out showed me I’m not as young as I used to be, but I am JUST JAY and powerful as I wanna be. 40 I welcome you!

Not a shawl AND hat! Lol Good to see you back! We’ve missed you. You’re so right…today’s 40 isn’t 40 from before. As a millennial…I can’t wait to turn it, own it, and rock it. The wisdom and clarity that comes along with it is priceless. And let’s not forget that you’re STILL fine! Happy 40th Birthday Jay. 🥂🎉🥳
